They think it’s all over...

While everyone looks forward to the end of the academic year, staff and students alike, there’s always a tinge of sadness as inevitable ‘goodbyes’ are made. Here, Ms Bhanderi reflects on the recent Sixth-Form Leavers’ Assembly.

On Wednesday 8th May 2024, we wished farewell to our current cohort of Year 13 students. The day was full of suits and high-heels, with pupils celebrating their successes during their time in Claremont’s Sixth-Form.

Many pupils took the opportunity to say farewell to teachers and take photos with each other to capture these memories. Students were provided with a photo-booth and props, ate pizza and browsed a personalised ‘Treat Table’ prior to the main assembly taking place.

Many teachers attended the celebrations, enjoying sweet treats and taking part in photos before presenting Subject Excellence Certificates across the various fields of study. Form-tutors also took to the stage to present their Form Pupil of the Year Award and many students received special commendations for contributions to the wider school community.

Dr Nicolaou added his own personal thoughts in his speech to the assembled sixth-formers: ‘Looking back over the past two years, we've witnessed incredible growth, both academically and personally, from each one of our students. From the first day you walked through our doors to this moment, you have embraced challenges, overcome obstacles and flourished into the young adults we see before us today.’

‘Congratulations and thanks go to the entire Year 13 cohort,’ says Mr Warren, ‘for all their excellent contributions to the Sixth-Form. We wish them the very best of luck in the exams and all their future endeavours.’

They think it’s all over… But, actually, it’s just the start of the next exciting chapter!
