We are the champions!
Claremont’s four colleges – Scarlet, Emerald, Gold and Sapphire – have long been a part of school life. Staff and students alike are fiercely proud of their membership of one or the other and their allegiances are played out in various activities and events throughout the year, culminating in Sports Day in the Summer Term.
But what’s the ethos of each college? What do they represent?
‘We set out to find slogans to best fit our school colleges this academic year,’ explains Mr Lipman, Head of Colleges. ‘Each form group within each college was asked to submit an entry and we then put them to a vote.’
The form groups in each college were able to cast their votes for the new slogans and the results are now in…
Scarlet: Simpliciter Optimum (Simply the best)
Emerald: Per Unitatem Vis (Through unity strength)
Gold: Golden hearts, golden minds
Sapphire: Start with a dream, finish with a future
The heads of each college will lead assemblies in the coming weeks to explore these statements and the beliefs and qualities they represent. One thing’s for certain, as we pause to consider what we and our colleges stand for, the healthy competition will continue as Scarlet, Emerald, Gold and Sapphire demonstrate what we already know… Everyone at Claremont’s a champion!
